Scouts in Action
We ventured up near Red Feather Lakes this October for some Haunted Weekend fun with a bunch of Cub Scouts. siblings and parents. It was a couple of chilly nights at 7,700ft elevation at Camp Nicol, but we had a blast! Paint-ball Slingshots, BB guns, Archery, Pumpkin Carving, Hiking and of course the Haunted Castle was a huge hit! This was the first time the camp sold out for the weekend, so next year please remember to book your reservations early.
On a cold rainy day in the town of Erie, we attended the Fishing Clinic. The boys (and siblings) learned all about fish: Laws and rules, how to hold them, how to cast a fishing pole, what kinds of fish live in Colorado and everyone who registered went home with a Free Fishing Pole! We caught two large mouth bass and three rainbow trout all in about an hour. The weather rolled in slowly and gave us an opportunity to test some gear.
Did it rain: Yes
Was it cold: Yes
Was the lake water warmer than it was outside: Yes
Did everyone have a good time: Yes
I'd call that a success!
For Earth Month we hosted Cameron Young with www.snakeconservation.org and learned all about snakes! We got to see how a snake eats and even how to hold them!
